Science Discovery Books
These are fantastic! Vibrant, fascinating, well-written books reveal the history of scientific discoveries, including some that are not usually covered in children's literature. Highly recommended for ages 11-14. Published by Coward, McCann & Geoghegan, Inc. in the 1970's and 80's.
There are a couple of titles that weren't appropriate for our library, but most are among the best science writing that I've seen for children!

Dance of the Planets: The Universe of Nicholas Copernicus
Darwin and the Enchanted Isles
